Home School Link Worker

Hello my name is Vicky Altree, I am the Home School Link Worker here at Landywood Primary school.

I have worked at Landywood for nearly 25 years back when my own children attended this school. I’m now a very proud Nanny to 8 grandchildren.

Please trust me when I say there is very little I have not seen, done or come across in school already.

I have had many roles in my 25 years but being the ‘Home School Link Worker’ and a ‘Deputy Designated Safeguard Lead’ are most definitely my favourite if not the most challenging.

I pride myself on being able to offer non-judgmental help when its needed, and by sharing my own experiences and knowledge helps me support the children and families that need it.

As usual I don’t work alone. ‘H the hippo’ is always hungry for children’s worries and Bob the monkey with his long hug giving arms is ready to supply a reassuring cuddle.

We have a new friend in the Hub now ‘Helpful bear’. He is particularly good at supporting children who struggle with coming to school.

We have now become the only primary school in the area that is involved with the new ‘Midland Partnership Cannock Mental Health Support Team’. We are able to refer, with parental consent, into the service to get our pupils that extra help they may need.

With the current financial climate things for many of us are not easy at present.  But please remember at Landywood you are never alone and if things become too much in any way, we are always here to offer help, support or just a listening ear.

If you feel you are struggling and it might be something school can help you with contact me by calling the school office on 01922 270077
